Belize Flag Photos from a vacation in Belize, Central America February 12-20, 2005.

Belize City Belize City. Not a place I'd recommend to stay, but it's close to the islands (Caye Caulker, San Pedro) and the Mayan ruins of Lamanai and Altun Ha. Ran out of time and didn't make it to Altun Ha or the Baboon Sanctuary.

Caye Caulker Snorkeling the reef at Caye Caulker, including "Shark-Ray Alley". The reef is very shallow here just a few hundred yards off the beach. Snorkeling gear is all you need - scuba would be overkill unless you're going to the Blue Hole.

Lamanai Lamanai is an impressive ruin and the boat trip to get there is well worth the time.

Tikal Tikal, the largest known city of the Mayan world, across the border in Guatemala. I'm glad I got to see it, but our guide was terrible (and drunk).

Barton Cave Cave tubing! at Barton Cave

Caracol Caracol was the most impressive Mayan ruin I visited, in my opinion. It was partly due to a great guide this time.

Rio Rio on Frio & Rio on Pools - A nice place to cool off on the way back from Caracol. Also stopped into a tiny, less-known ruin whose name escapes me at the moment...

Xunantunich Near San Ignacio is another fairly small, but still impressive, Mayan ruin called Xunantunich

San Ignacio Time to sit back and drink a few Belikins on our last night in Belize. I liked those chairs so much I had to buy a pair.
